FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is Muay Thai?
Muay Thai, also known as the "art of eight limbs," is a dynamic and powerful combat sport originating from Thailand. In this striking-based martial art, fighters use a combination of punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes, making use of eight points of contact. It's a stand-up fighting style that involves both long-range and close-range techniques, emphasizing strength, agility, and precision. Originating in the 16th century, Muay Thai was initially developed as a practical martial art for Thai soldiers. Over time, it evolved into a popular sport with global recognition. The sport gained international prominence in the 20th and 21st centuries as practitioners from the Western world began participating in kickboxing and mixed-rules matches alongside traditional Muay Thai contests. Muay Thai matches are characterised by intense, fast-paced action, and fighters compete in a ring, aiming to outscore or knock out their opponents. The training in Muay Thai not only hones physical fitness but also emphasizes mental toughness and discipline. With its rich history, diverse techniques, and widespread appeal, Muay Thai has become a respected and thrilling martial art that attracts practitioners and enthusiasts worldwide.
